Patient Survey – Top 10%
The results of the GP Patient Survey have been published and Bourn Surgery has continued to perform well. The survey is sent to over two million people across the UK asking people how they feel about their GP Surgery. The results for Bourn Surgery put it comfortably in the top 10% of Surgeries nationally. This is a really strong result which we believe recognises the hard work all of our staff put into serving our patient population in difficult times for the NHS. It also demonstrates the support we receive from our patients and the wider community. There is no room for complacency, we recognise the pressure on services in the NHS are stronger than ever. Despite the demands on us being high we remain committed to delivering the best service we can and improving wherever possible. It’s important to take the opportunity to recognise the dedication and professionalism of our team and thank our patients for recognising it.
Details of the GP Survey including results for practices can be found on their website

New GP Registrars
We welcome two new GP Registrars to Bourn Surgery starting this month. Dr Sakina Bokhari and Dr Thomas Stocks are both doctors with several years’ experience who are in the final stages of their training to become a GP.
Emergency Appointments
As we explained in our last newsletter, we have changed our doctor appointment system, increasing the amount of appointments bookable in advance. These can be in person or remotely and with a clinician of choice. We maintain 'on the day' appointments for emergencies. These will be with any of our clinical team. To ensure we can treat people that need it, these appointments can only be for acute urgent issues.
To maintain the high levels of care we provide for our patients we ask them to book ahead if they have an anticipated medical need. Patients who attempt to use emergency slots for matters that could have been anticipated will be asked to rebook their appointment. Our clinicians will then be are able to care for those people that most need it.
Flu Clinics
We are busy planning for the 2022 flu campaign. We will be running clinics on Several Saturdays in September and October – these are not yet open to book until we have confirmation of deliveries of this year’s flu vaccines. We will invite you to book nearer the time by text message, and update our website soon. Please do not contact reception to book until invited to do so (last year we only had confirmed delivery dates a week before they arrived).
We are planning to offer you the Covid booster vaccine at the same visit. This will need to be at least 91 days after any Spring Booster you might have received.
Please support the surgery by booking your vaccinations with us this year, rather than going elsewhere for it. We have ordered enough Flu vaccines for all eligible patients, and will hope to be able to offer to the wider group of over 50s again from November onwards as per Government advice.
We will again be looking for volunteers to help us run our busy Saturday Clinics – do contact our practice manager via our secure online form if you would like to volunteer.
The dates for your diary so far are Saturday 24th September and 15th October.
